Subject description: Questions/concerns

Well, I recently acquired a 2 cold 20 fcr 2 orb 2 o/s wand, which currently has two 5/5 facets in it. However, I checked the mods on blizz's website and found out it's actually 30 without the jewels.

How viable would a 30 orber be in PvP?

Using that orb, a 2/20/2 circ, and the typical sorc gear setup. Is the damage output even there? With such a low level of cold mastery I'm not sure. Granted, the synergy would be maxed out but yea, I just wanted others input on this. If not, I'm just remaking my 49. heh

Thanks.

MDR takes a huge chunk of it I believe as it applies to each ice bolt even if there are many,Charged bolt suffers the same problem.

I have an orber (albeit with a much, much better orb Razz) and it DOES work well, but you have to be ready to use blizz as a backup attack, since some ppl (ie, those with string if ears and vipermag) will ruin your damage...usually it's still quite possible to kill those people, but it takes FOREVER, and everyone gets bored...the only ppl orber really just can't win against are assassins and other sorcs, thanks to teleport.

It isnt that orbers arent viable, its just very very easy to make it where orb does little to no dmg at all. Most people wont stack you, but a blizz/orb build would be better. Just max icebolt instead of ice blast, and you can get a decent blizz/orb combo.

i got bored really quick with my pure orb es sorc. the damage just wasnt enough, and you had to be reasonably close to people to hit them with more than 1 bolt. and every lvl 30 caster i can think of will have mdr in the form of vmagi, shroud, or soe. but im more than happy with my blizz/ib sorc i turned her into Very Happy so if anything, go blizz/orb combo
