I graduated from Brookline High School last year. Today, June 5th, the 2005 class is graduating. Obviously you know where I stand, however under the 1st Amendment I accept this group's right to picket. Unfortunately, they seem to pick inappropriate times to do it; the 2nd link explains that they picketed at a funeral of a 21 year old gay man who was beaten to death. What sort of cruelty is this? I do believe that there is a time and place for everything... (And who knew what I would have done if they had come to my graduation last year...  )
I apologize if this offends anyone, though I believe I wrote in a way that does not offend. I just hope this opens some eyes. ::end rant:: |

I'm so sorry you live within range of those WBC jackasses. I've been aware of them for years - often keeping an eye out for whatever stupidity they inflict next on the local populace. People like the Phelps family are why I live on the coast (where stupid inbred racists are kept to a delightful minimum), and "churches" like the WBC are why I distrust religion as a whole. I've often wondered why people hate gays as much as they do. I myself have never understood it - gays aren't particularly threatening, and only in the most gay-invasive areas of California are they particularly annoying about their lifestyle (99% of the time they keep their sex lives to themselves, just like everyone else does). In fact, oftentimes we find that people who desperately hate anything are usually themselves members of this "hated" subgroup. Remember Rush Limbaugh's constant tirades against drug addicts, and how he would go on about how they should get maximum prison sentences and harsh fines? Welp, ole' Rushie boy was addicted to painkillers while he was spewing some of this vitrol. And when he was found out - his brainless tirades against "the evils of drug abusers" mysteriously tapered off. God, I love it when hypocrites get their comeuppance. I'll bet the WBC members engage in deviant pedophilic and beastiality-laden orgies after every sermon, crying and begging for the forgiveness of a God who doesn't care about them. _________________

well said. I love the last part that describes the WBC members' probable life-style. 
I actually don't live within range of them  They're coming all the way from Kansas, which is the funny part! Shouldn't they just hang out around there?
Massachusetts, like California, is very liberal (probably California moreso right?) I feel very lucky and safe to live in one of few states with (relatively) such freedom of persecution. |

My bad. I glanced at your school's address and thought I saw "MO" instead of "MA".
Heh. No, I think you only get that in states like Wyoming and Texas. I'll assume you meant "from".
I have a dream wherein we offer up Kansas as a conservative mecca (well, maybe "mecca" is the wrong word to be using with these people. Let's say "holy place") for all things fundamentalist. Let them teach creationism in schools, hatred against gays, women, liberals, and whatever other minority flavor of the week excites them. Build them a giant church-shaped theme park, call it "GodHatesLiberalsLand", and watch 'em flock in droves. Then, once we've gotten them all in there, wall it off like they did in "Escape from New York", and let them fight amongst each other for the basic elements of survival. I hear the glue from a Baptist bible tastes particularly sweet when moistened with the tears of a weeping zealot.

Mass is more liberal seeing that they already allow gays to be married in their constitution and Cali *just* allowed it in a trial period which will be appealed after the 6 month no touch restriction. Not all Christians, or religious people, are like the Godhatesfags people. I personaly would be very happy to oppose their picketing with my fists and i am a strong christian. |

This is true. Sadly, there are too many examples of bad religious people in the world today, and not enough examples of good ones. _________________

Im not being narrow minded...its NOT a choice... and i'm far from being gay...but its obvious that people don't chose to be gay..they have an attraction from the same sex as them...they didnt choose to have that attraction..did you choose to be hetero ?
