Useful or improved study habits I could use? Subject description: For college exams. |
|
I've been doing flash cards, mainly, on the vocabulary of my science tests and the rest I just read over notes. Makeing flash cards usually takes an hour to and hour an half to write down all the vocab, and another cupple of days of a hour a day or more just flipping through to learn all the terms. So, I was wondering what your guys' study habits are for an exam. I'd like to find a habit that would cover most of my classes' exams, shorter study time, but also more effective on exams. Thanks, and any suggestions are appricated.

When I do my readings, I take notes down on my laptop. Then I just re-read the condensed notes. =/
Re-writing notes helps too, just because you're re-reading them/re-writing them over and over just to copy them.

When reading over notes I read it out loud. It helps to memorize stuff as you are reading and hearing the material.

I'm not in college right now, but basically, my study habits just involve reading over the material. Paying attention in class also helps me, but basically whenever theres a test, I just take my time and read the material until I understand it. I never went thru the hassle of making flash cards for vocabulary, because most of the vocab I'm required to know, I already knew it before.

If you are having trouble remembering certain information, i find it helpful if you continuously read it and write it out (by hand, no on the computer!!!). This will help it stick in your head, trust me.

I agree with the putting notes into a laptop .
after you have written them down. that way you re-read them and put them somepleace were they wont get as easily lost or "smudged"

Don't use laptops, especially for taking notes! I tried that out, all I did was play games on my computer. Comps are too distracting when it comes to serious stuff like school. Take it from me, the guy who has tons of overdue projects to finish now =(

When I used to study my books back in college I would simply read my books and write the important stuff on a paper..It helped me..If you have notes, just read your notes and write the important parts on a paper..

get wasted
just review notes you didnt take in class cause you were sleeping but got off the internet on the teachers website. if theres a study guide, do it since some teachers take questions directly off of it.

Do the study guide.
I personally don't rewrite notes because it's a waste of time, since you're more or less just scanning and not reading through them.
Also reread everything hour before exam, so it's fresh in mind. I still think cramming is the best thing that someone could do, and when I cram I usually get high grades on tests.

If its math or physics related, and you need to remember the formulas, just understand the concepts or the basic equations and you can derive the rest. I find that very helpful especially in my calc class-too many derivatives and integral formulas to remember.

thats why you get one without the capability, and you leave your wirless at home or disabled.
p.s. get a ultra-slim if your gona, 15"-+ strains the back.

I have never tried to study a little each day a week before the test. I usually just cram the night before. It works best for me, despite what others say. Re-reading works the best for me, however some topics just don't "stick", so at worst I have to read it again. If you want to use the computer, I suggest printing them out afterwards and study from the piece of paper you typed. I agree that a computer is too distracting.
