whats better for my lvl 59 ww barb? 441 1 hand oath balrog or a 354 greif ? i dont know how the +damage works

with a 32+% ias phase blade grief, and atleast 1 other source of 10% ias (like bloodfists) youll hit the fastest BP for conc. youll also hit the highest WW BP with a 30%ias grief phase, (although you hit it with a 50%ias oath BB too). obviously the phase is better than the BB, as it can hit both highest BPs.

phase has a range on 2, BB has a range of 3. if you are only a WWer, thatll hurt you. in this aspect, id choose BB over phase.

phase has a very nice tight average damage. assuming the +damage modifier adds to both min and max (ie: 331-335), then your overall damage would be pretty consistant. since it is just ED on the BB, the average is lower, but the max is much much higher. coupled with crushing blow/critical strike/deadly strike, a max damage blow is devistating. for over all damage, id go with the oath BB.

the only other real useful mods on an oath eth bb, other than the ED and ias, are the spirit ctc and the magic absorb, since on an eth, once you use the charges, they;re gone forever. grief isnt much better, although it has 20% deadly strike, and ctc venom. for mods, id pick chance to cast 300 more damage spirit, and magic absorb, over griefs extra mods.

over all, on a barb, i like eth oath BB better than a grief phase.

with grief you have much more consistant damage and you get 20% ds and you have something to conc and zerk with (useful when you run out of mana) so im thinking the 1 less range isnt much of a problem when you look at how consistant you will hit

for a ww barb speed and range is everything. both swords hit the fastest ww BP, so that isnt an issue. range is the next priority, or atleast should be.

Edit: now the question is should i pour my remaining resources into getting a sup eth bb and trying to get a better roll than 294% ed?

hmm even if i rolled a perf oath id only be adding 9-10 pvp damage to the wepon which might add like 45 to my total pvp damage... knowing that is it still worth it?

youd have more damage than a grief, more range than a grief, and be just as fast as a grief. the only con is that your damage average wouldnt be as consistant. id take the range over the consistant damage any day. because the extra range means more chance to hit, which logically means more damage will be done in the long run.

more consistant average damage + low range < lower average damage + long range.

I'd go with the grief phase. Average Damage > All. Plus Eth Oath BBs look lame, IMO.

heh. i disagree ben. if i can nail you for 800 pvp damage with my eth oath bb before you come into range of your grief phase, your average damage wont make up for it before you are dead.

I agree with Voices, go with Oath. Basing this mainly on the fact that it has Cb/etc as well as longer range (If you WW more often than conc).

i think ill havta agree w/ voices on this one...for a ww barb...eth oath bb would be the way to go...longer reach & everything...for a conc barb it would be different...but good analogy w/ the dying before avg dmg can kick in thing
