This time, I'm going to go defiant smite. why? because I never had one.
it's looking like 900ish life with 12-15k defense (realistically. theoretically it could hit 19k and up with top items.), full block, CB+OW and around/over half the straight damage of a reasonably equipped conc smiter.
I may flash freeze as well, because we all know that a damage smiter at level 28 is going to chew right through a defense one.
I do forsee a bit of a snag in getting ebruine (defense+) jewels of freedom for the ornate, but "meh".
Basically it's a whole lot of "chip" damage wich is going to give some kids FITS when i get them down to about 50% and they've hit me maybe one time. A whole lot of running to town and making fun of my "sucky damage" when they realize I'm gonna win in another 20 seconds of holding the ol' left click down.

Hell, if it turns out crappy, I already have 90% of the items to make a Reverend_Norb clone (although I'll never see another ammy like that one T_T)

I remember our lvl 28 smiter battles... a long long time ago on ladder when I played east :p (Hapily claims best 29 smiter in europe currently xD) but I have always been intending to make a deffiance version too. Extra annoyance to melee I take it it's going to be steal flail/cutlass goblin toe boots and some form of barbed shield. Just an option, an akaran targe can get more def than a barbed shield can so this could be an option to use a spirit shield.

I thought about spirit too, but for the theme of it i already have a 100 ed hbsod. i did shop a 902 ornate as well, and i'm STILL shopping for a 902/suffix one >_> gogo 2 million gold. ima put pamethysts in that shield, too. rofl.

I think flashing HF might actually be very effective. I'm not exactly pro in the LLD department but my experience from HLD seconds your theory on high dmg> high def when referring to smite. HF will give you that edge and may well leave open an opportunity that you can steal. With enough IAS you could do enough fatal damage in the couple of seconds (dont know how long HF freezes for) to end the duel before they unfreeze. The only drawback is the "Cannot be Frozen" mod on deaths set. This may be a problem.

cbf doesnt stop holy freeze. its actually a form of slow (which is why it is bm in most rules)

you sure 30k Heprea, even with a hell rush that isnt easy, i'm thinking possibly closer to 20k

Oh that's news to me. I didn't know Holy Freeze wasn't affected by cbf. In that case, HF might be very effective, even though it BM can still be used in pub games. Might be fun too.
