Im thinking of putting linux [debian] on an old pc just to play around with.

*pc is: 500mhz p3, 256 ram, other stuff.*

Linux users!:
Tell me why i should bother!
And if you have Debian on your pc, any installation tips?
Would debian be the best choice?

If you want to mess with servers/programming, linux is good. If all you wanna do is play games, just buy a pc.

linux is good for programmers/hackers/crackers and bad for computer noobs/gamers/normal everyday people

linux lets you fix your own bugs
windows- you gotta wait till they fix it at the company and update it
