Nah. The only skill at this point I see that should be banned is Holy Freeze. Cold damage, or any other sort of damage, should be fine.

They might. It may be that we end up having to allow hell rushing merely as a preventative measure to keep people from sneaking them in. But I've noticed that I can usually spot a hell rushed character within seconds of dueling one.

I'm considering something like this. Maybe no emeralds in weapons, or limit them to one or two. A six-socket weapon with 6 pemeralds would do 600 damage over 7 seconds. Put that in the hands of a zealot, and I imagine death would come swiftly.

The way to stop hell rushing, is to have everyone in the tourney go to a channel with their chars before you duel. That way you can tell by their name.

Definetly count me in, is it gonna be on West or East though?

That would work. I play West, and most of the people I've talked to have been Westies, but it'll probably be on whatever realm the majority of the interested parties are on.

I'm hoping to get at least eight people, but this looks like a pretty good start. Does anyone else forsee any problems with the rules and omissions as stated? It looks like rules will look like this:

1. All classes can go to 30.
2. All duels are Open, non style-specific best 3 of 5 duels.
3. Characters may not pass normal difficulty.
4. All skills are allowed except Holy Freeze.
5. No magic, crafted, set, rare, unique or runeworded items may be used. All items must be non-magic, although they can be superior and socketed.
6. No charms of any kind can be used. All duelers must carry 5 polearms (non-magic, of course), and present them via trade screen prior to dueling.
7. No runes may be used at any time. All gems are allowed without restriction
8. No potions may not be used at any time during the duel, nor may shrines or wells be activated.
9. All duelers will meet in the Clan-Honor channel prior to a duel, and a third party must be present at the duel to confirm the win. (Who this will be is something I haven't decided yet...)

Does this sound workable? If so, I'll toss a copy on the dueling forum and we'll get started.

so maybe in the future Crying or Very sad gives me time to work on my char:D

Unfortunately, it won't. Poison damage doesn't stack, it resets. Therefore, the zealot would have to run around like an idiot, using hit and run tactics.

Which brings me to suggest another rule: No BM running, unless it's absolutely vital to strategy...And no PSkulls in armor/helms for unfair regen?

antidote and thawing potions duration stack dont they? ie: if 1 pot lasts 30 seconds, and you drink 6, you have 3 minutes of being almost immune to poison. whats to stop people from drinking 30 pots before a duel, and therefore completely nulifying any cold or poison dependant build?

This would be hard to ajudicate. Rather than being an essentially non-judgemental rule, this becomes subject to one person's opinion of a given situation in a given moment. I've had my necro accused of being a "bm" player for running away from ww barbs or windy druids; but in my opinion, that's strategy, and to sit and tank is stupidity (unless you think you can tank them). But others may not agree. Other than poison, I'm not sure I see a problem with running around (sorcs may do it to regen mana); if it lasts for more than 10 seconds (without an attempt at combat, a shot or a swing) that could probably constitute unnecessary running, but I'd hate to argue exactly how long 10 seconds is...

And I'm not sure pskulls would have a significant enough effect to warrant being disallowed. 7 pskulls would be +35 life regen, which at level 30 is hardly significant. And to be honest, I don't think 133% mana regen is going to necessarily keep a sorc from running out of mana. Plus, a sorc with 7 pskulls doesn't have anything else in her armor or helm, which means she missed out on 266 or so life, or 266 extra mana, or something to that effect. She'll have better mana regen, and much less something else. I think it'll balance.

I had forgotten they have durations as well as instant effects. Well, if poison isn't quite the killer I thought it might be, then let's just ban all potions. Easy enough. That's why I still wanted to hammer out rules here before going forward with the idea.

say if you had 2 * 6 sokt crystal swords with 6 p emeralds in each for 601 psn dmg over 7 secs would it stack? ( it gives 601 for some reason )

...only a barb can hold two swords, and no, it doesnt "stack". it would be listed dmg for each hand. and its 600 poison. 100*6 = 600

I am very interested, but don't have a char right now, gonna be working on it this week. Great idea, gives the less rich ppl like me Sad some chance at being able to duel ppl who dont kill you in one hit, lol.
