I've been looking at making a mlld wolf, but it looks like a bear might be more suitable. I was thinking feral rage for my wolf, but i just looked at the bear and thought he might be a bit better with higher dmg and def. However, the weapons i have for my wolf all need his extra ias from the werewolf to hit max speed. I have a
6os great axe with 6x15max dmg jewels,
3os plate with 3x15max,
his helm a +3rabies +1 feral rage with 2os,
and just picked a +2maul +1lycan +1oak pelt for the bear at level 12 which most likely get 20s also. For one hander with shield i was thinking a
superior war axe with 6os 6x15max
and i got a magic bone shield with 30icb and 20fbr which will get 2os also filled with 15maxers. His stash was gonna be
10x 6max/ar gc's with 10 15lifers along the bottom.

For the wolf i was thinking using HoW as i have prebuff eye of etlich, sigs shield and +1how pelt which will boost it a bit, however if i go bear i will use oak for the extra life. And of course the basic mlld gear bfists, angelics, rndm unique boots with frw +10life, deaths sash.

Was wondering what everyone would reccommend, friends have told me to stear away from feral rage as it uses too much mana and does crap all dmg, however the bear wont be as fast or have as much life by the set-up. The wolf will have extra dmg from HoW and the gc's and jewels, but the bear will still have higher by the looks of it with more def also, but i usually never worry about def, especially not in lld anyway.

assuming for melee only..unless u are planing to make a fun built a lvl18 shifter (frage/maul/rabies/fclaws) will not be viable because of the following:
attack speed problem.
very limited weapon options. (angelic sword/horadric axe/khalim's will*)

*: imo Kwill is the only and the best one hand weapon option for lvl12-25 shifters.

I've never seen a level 18 wolf, so presumably they're awful - but it could be a fun build to try out and see how successful you can make it. My TS kicker is far weaker than my zealot, yet the kicker is about 10 times as fun as the zealot to play.

if you are serious about this I'd recomand a feral rage wolf vs chargers / bowzons / spear necros /... if u can tank enuff and if u can be fast enuff u might beat em?(not sure about this).. but I'm affraid this built would require very elite gear/charms/jewels.

I've seen level 18 Feral and Rabies Druids before, but the Rabies sucks against anyone with Death Hands/Guards on. From my experience of dueling some, you should try to avoid Smiters. Also, I think a Maul Bear might be better since it'll do more damage, but it'll have less Attack Rating.

i dont think either build works very well at 18. my friend made a lvl 18 mauler and it still lost to almost every half-decent lvl 18 zealot

level 15 mauler with 1.3k life, and 1k dmg, stats looked nice but was owned by anything faster then it.

i had an 18 mauler.

i have pretty much the best gear you could get, but still got raped by any 18 zealot.

He was fun vs conc barbs, kickers, jabbers though.

well i went with the 18 werewolf feral rage. I decided to use Oak instead of HoW for extra life and i got just over 1.5k life with that. I'm really use to using fury and not this one hit at a time crap, rather annoying really. Anyway i got just over 3k ar, and do 556 dmg. Mind you have absolutley crap charms atm. I need some more 6max/ar gc's and a few more 15lifers to fill up the spaces. i'm hoping to reach around 650dmg. I also need a better pelt probly something with +3feral rage. I also need one more skills quest then i'm done. I'm still looking for a decent one handed weapon, i'm thinking of a 6o's war axe with 15maxers through it.

wouldn't that raise the lvl req?

sry i didnt see your post about the one-handed weapons, apologies.

i found a decent rare war axe while cow mfing, has 20ias, kb, i think around 14-35dmg, and hits fairly fast. others have told me to find a military pick and socket that. However, i will try and get khalims.

i've been dueling with him quite a bit lately, and its true the zealers are a terribly large pain in the but. I underestimate how annoying it is not having fury and only single hitting with feral rage. But still not finished yet. thanks for help ppl.
