does anyone ski? |
|
I am looking to get a new pair of skis, and I ski downhill/big mountain, no park. I don't ski as much as I'd like, but still around half a dozen times or more each season.
I am looking at a pair of 06 K2 Seth Vicious skis, with Atomic Neox bindings. Any opinions?

What's the point of comments that poke fun at skiing just because your personal interests are different? Oleo asked for simple advice on a set of skis and bindings and all you can contribute is "skis are gay". If this was a skiing vs. snowboarding thread, I wouldn't have an issue. However, your comments are totally off base and contribute nothing to the forums. One of the reasons I stopped frequenting these boards (except for when bored to tears at work) is because of this. There used to be a vast knowledge base that was easy to reach here. Granted some of those people are still around but for the most part, this site has degenerated to a breeding grounds for the purveyors of misinformation and crude insults.
On the other hand, I may have missed something here. Perhaps the three of you are friends and the posts were tongue in cheek. However, from an outsider's perspective those comments are very disheartening when deciding whether or not to become a member of this site.
I don't ski as much as I did a few years ago and even then my knowledge of ski equipment was limited to what the rental shop had to offer. Oleo, you're probably better off Googling ski gear review sites than looking for information here.

Sorry, I can't help you on your question Oleo, I have no knowledge in that area. But I did plan on learning to ski one winter, I had a friend convince me to try it out. Then a couple weeks after, that same friend went on a trip and broke his legs while skiing. I didn't want to attempt it after that.
EDIT: I appreciate whoever deleted the post that that illiterate halfwit made in regards to my post.

Nope, not an inside joke. Just plain flames.
@ snowboarders: Go google some videos, look at some ski tricks and then watch some vids of snowboard tricks. Now, convince me that snowboarding just looks so much cooler. I'm sorry, but skis look way better, and itis harder and it is more fun. I have tried boarding, but got bored with it. Also I guess I'm not in that "punk rebel" age group anymore, I don't have anything to prove, and especially don't need to prove that I'm different by being like everyone else.
Yeah, thanks b[x], I have googled it, but I just wanted to know if anyone here had any input, seeing as how there is a diverse age/cultural group on here I figured someone may have something intelligent to say. Guess I should have known, as even the posts relating to LLDing are quite off kilter most times.

I've never skied before. I snowboarded once, if you define "snowboarding" as "sliding down icy hillsides on your ass or face".

Sorry to say I'm a snowboarder myself. I've been going for a couple years, although I'm not that great. I would really like to perform tricks and stuff but I simply don't have the time nor money (not to mention watermelon sized balls and double-digit IQ!) to practice some of the crap those 11 year old kids do in the park nowadays. I've got a no-name-brand snowboard bought from "La Poubelle Du Ski" (French for: The Ski Dump (/Garbage)" with a pair of nice Flow bindings and boots.
I don't see any problems between Snowboarding and Skiing, they're both their own respective pastimes. Although I do believe Skiing is easier to pick up upon beginning because the motions feel a lot more natural, but is it harder at a higher level? I would assume so.
Also, thumbs down to all the jerks spamming this topic >: (
EDIT: Come to think of it, I may be spamming the topic myself because I'm not telling him what equipment to get .
