I found this shield the other day and it looks nice, only downside is the lack of edef% and eth/rep. the mods on it just look perfect for a lvl 15 def smiter. but with the loss of swordbacks open wounds and superior damage. will the build work?

heres the shield: (can't get s/s to upload, once i do i will post a s/s)

Shadow Mark Bone Shield
defense: 24
Chance to Block on Pally: 70%
Req Lvl: 15

10% CtC lvl 3 Nova when struck
+1 Pally Defensive Auras
+30% Faster Block Rate
+20% Increased Chance of Blocking
All Resists +3
Half Freeze Duration
2 sockets (clean)

so what do you think?

if youre defensive you rely on ow/cb. plus any smiter under like 29 relies on ow and cb.

Its not bad for a regen smiter, would be best in a spiked shield.

ya i kinda figured that. just thinking for defensive the +1 aura and 2 sockets would be nice. but i have no experience with lld smiters so i dunno. i figured smite with swordback to trigger open wounds then switch to this, but i guess its not worth it.

throw 2 pamethysts in it for more def Razz

my friend's lvl 18 def smiter uses a 4 pamethyst crown shield. it has 160 def or so

I think a swordback would be better, but its a cool little shield. Let me know if its ft, I think I might want it.

Looks like a sweet shield for a lot of non-pala melee chars. I always wanted a deflect/2os with half freeze =P

I never understood why everyone goes after swordback for their 15 smiters. I strongly believe that using a vbsod or some kind of high defense shield + ow belt is superior.

On the topic of a defensive smiter, would this amulet be any good for one, and if so how much is it worth?

Cyclops man that avatar is hee-owge. :p anyway I rate that shield as really nice for a regen smiter, I use a similar one for my lvl 15 regen smiter switch. But mines a pally only shield, but I socketed with 2 eths, but the weapon on that is a steel runeword, erm forgotten the sword but its the lower version of cutlass. And no my build dosnt use swordback, its a hybrid charger and thus I run out of mana fast also.
