Mmmk, i ran into this problem earlier and i just dont see how smite can be considered melee, because other melee chars rely on block/ar/def and smiters go right through that. So my opinion is it is not melee. Any other opinions.

of course its not melee.... lld101 just lets them duel with melee chars becuase smiters have low damage and usually suck

Youre hitting somone with something youre holding in your hand= its melee IMO.

In that case every character is melee. My FB makes contact with enemy. My guided makes contact with enemy.

Melee is hand-to-hand, in-place combat, where physical damage is the majority of the damage being dealt.

Smite is melee.

Should it be in the same catagory? No.

Put it along these lines, it's sort of like a Frost Paladin in melee duels, complete BS.

But as stated, they aren't as good in LLD.

technically it is melee,just the fact that it stuns the enimy makes it to powerful, junky damage but very powerful so i don't like it even though i have one lol..

you think charge is not melee and smite is melee? charge is more melee than smite... with charge, you have to be standing still and next to them when you hit them, you have to use your AR, your attack can be blocked... the only differenc is you have the chance to run away really fastafter your attack... any mele char can hit and run, chargers can just do it faster so everyone whines. If you have to stand still beside the opponant, use your ar to cut through their defence, and your attack has a chance of being blocked, you are melee. if you are a smiter, you are not melee.
CS has all the same stats as smite pretty much. do you call CS melee? no.
Cs can;t be blocked, doesn't use ar, but you do have to stand still while using it. exactly the same as smite... it;s elemental dm instead of physical, so what? that doesn;t change a thing, everyone considers fireclaws melee, andit;s fire dmg.. but you can block that, and you nee ar to use it. if smite is melee, cs is melee... and that's pretty much that

but i do see wat u are saying and i believe that i am changing my decision, but I disgree that it should be with casters!!!! or ranged??!!!!! thats just stupid, ill agree to non-melee tho (so therefor open i guess, it owns open tho), but charge is a ranged melee attack, so i belive it should go for both
