Is anyone else other than myself running on this version of windows??

My big beef is that there is no image mounting program available yet. I just dl'd Black and White 2, and have no way to mount it.

Does anyone know of one that works?

Also, anyone kno which games have 64bit capabilities??? So far i've found only Far Cry is capable at running at 64bit, everything else is not Sad

I'm probably gonna return to xp Pro :S

windows runs at 32bit

windows x64 runs at 64bit

Pretty much applications that are able to run at 64bit lvl will run faster and more efficient (they'll use less CPU and memory space)

i think thats right isnt it? :S

yeah a cpu running at 64 bit (if this was possible) could run a program thats 64 bit twice as fast and normal cpu (32 bit) running the same program (if it was also 32 bit)

just means it can preform more calculations per cycle but you need the software that can use the extra power though and right now there arent many programs out but 64 bit windows does run alot faster than 32bit

8bits to a byte

1000 bytes to a kilobyte

etc

So what i can gather is:

Cpu's preform a certain number of things per second, i'm guessing 1 hertz is 1 operation per second.

And, if you a had a 32 bit 1 hertz processor you could do 32 operations per second.

so.. if you have a 64 bit program, it can handle running 64 operations per hertz.

now my computer is 1.4 ghz so thats 1 400 000 000 operations a second at 32 bits, so thats 44 800 000 000 bits per second, which means it can process 5 600 000 000bytes or 5.6 gigabytes per second.

That cant be right, somone help me Confused

As I understand it, computers move data around in "chunks" of a certain size. A 64 bit processor moves chunks that are twice as big as those that a 32 bit processor can move. There is something about memory allocation limits, also, but I can't remember exactly what it is.

yeah, it allocates memory better, therefore putting less stress on the cpu when playing high quality, memory eating games.

99% of all applications as it stands now arnt compatable with 64bit xp, although they can still run on a 64bit os, they wont run anyfaster, over the next 2 years however 50-70% of all apps will be compatable, and over the next 4 year i bet their will be hardly any 32 bit apps left
