it sorta comes from "ownt"...if you haven't already noticed, the "p" key is right beside the "o" key on the qwerty keyboard.

lol, being a dork, me and some buddies had a heated argument about it and came to the conclusion that "Pwn" is simply "Player owned." So yeah... I suppose "Pwnt" would be a way of using it a past tense Wink

Might as well merge English and 1337 wherever we get the chance. Headaches will be less intense that way...

Funny thoughts of proper grammar with 1337-speak... x.X

From what i've heard, like krajee said, it is because the p is beside the o on the keyboard. I have heard it started in CS when someone made a typo in their server name and put "pwn" instead of "own" not sure if it's true tho Question

IT started in Starcraft. "....so and so was owned...." was uncorrectly written in as "....so and so was pwned..."

People were saying pwn on kali in WC2 so it didn't originate in SC. I'm fairly certain it was used in Quake too, but I never played that game competitively.

Pwned came from Wc2 when you won with the Orcs, they misspelled owned wrong on the end game screen.

pwned came because nerds like me who type to fast were accidently hitting the P unstead of the O on the qwerty keyboard...it eventualy caught on as a stronger word of "owned".....basicly as far as i can figure out

owned - beat u but took some dmg...but u still cant handle me

pwned - beat u with no dmg taken and u stand no chance against ne noob
