clothing: what color goes with black and purple? |
|
Black suit
Purple shirt
xxx tie
Can someone help me out here? I'd pick another color for my shirt, but everyone else is going with the red/blue/etc. so I wanna be different.

Either black or gold would look fine, I'd personally go black, because I've seen someone go black suit/purple shirt/black tie and it looked very appropriate.

I vote for black or white. Unless it's one of those off-whites, those are no good.

Metallic-colored ties make you look like a cheap pimp.
Since purple is already an odd color choice, making another choice like a red tie or a white tie would probably make you look like a miscolored Neopolitan ice cream sandwich. I've seen a cream tie look pretty nice with purple, but against a black suit it will stick out like you're wearing a noose. As a good rule of thumb - when all else fails, black on black is nothing but love. Black tie, or if you're a "I like to be different" type, wear paisley, as long as the design is muted.

the point of a white tie would be to stick out. to draw attention.

Yeah, I'm the type that likes to be different/trendy; I wore a nice pair of dark blue jeans with a striped shirt and black blazer from Banana Republic - no tie, no tux. I was the first to do the jeans w/ blazer thing, and I'm sticking to that!

everything is trendy godz. including yourself. looking at your picture, i can tell you 1 thing, your hair cut in it is trendy. everything has been done, theres always going to be someone out there that has the same style as you. so why dont you drop the self righteous attitude.

what in my post was arrogant? your are starting to just sound like a silly child angry at me. All i was stating was the oddity of him wanting a different yet trendy outfit, a perfect example of an oxymoron. Why don't you delete my off topic post in the off topic forum and then threaten me and what not and then lock it so i don't respond.
By the way, that picture is about 2 years old. My hair is down to my chin and i am growing it out only for the soul purpose of donating it to locks-of-love for cancer pacients, i wear reboks, only classic and only white always(why? i don't know, it started 3 years ago and i pair 1 pair of shoes once a year), i pick up whatever pair of geans is cheapest at TJ max or the thrift store. I wear t shirts i get at shows becuase they are only 5$, i could honestly care less about appearence and what not. My dogs name is Jack.
Call me trendy, call me arrogant, call me greedy, doesn't bother me. If you say so i am.

One can be trendy and different. "Trendy" at grad would have been to give in to the tradition of wearing a tux or suit. I meant trendy in the context that it looks trendy, not that it was trendy at the time.
