How does increase max life/mana% & BO work? |
|
1) For an item like a soj for example, what is the 25% max mana applied towards?
2) For battle orders, what does it apply to?
3) If you're using a soj + battle orders, how do the calculations work?
Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

do they not stack? im fairly sure that the soj% and the bo% stack. the bo% wont take into account your amount of mana already being multiplied by a soj. so if you have 100 mana from charms and points in energy (lets avoid mana/lvl and +energy from gear), a soj, and say 50% increase from bo. that would turn into 175 mana

I found my answers for the 3 questions on couple sites. Thanks though guys.
I'll post it here in case others want the info:
diabloii.net forums wrote: | Items that give xx% max life/mana affects base life only.
Base life are:
points that you put, not from items, into vitality
charms that give life
items that gives life
Things that are NOT base life are:
items and charms that give vitality, such as annihilus
items that give life base on character level, such as BK rings |
battle.net forums wrote: | Life bonuses that are affected by Battle Orders
If you are asking this sort of a question, you have probably heard that not all life is multiplied by Battle Orders and other percentage-based life boosters. This is true.
When it comes to calculating your final life, there are effectively three factors you need to consider. These factors could be called "Boostable life", "Non-boostable life" and "Percentage boosts".
# Boostable life is life gained from spent vitality points, life naturally gained per level up, +life bonuses on items, and life gained from quest rewards.
# Non-boostable life is life gained from "soft" vitality points on items, life gained from life per level bonuses on items and life gained from vitality per level bonuses on items.
# Percentage boosts are the life% bonuses that can (for examples) be seen on the skills Battle Orders, Oak Sage or Lycanthropy, and items such as Doombringer or Jah runes in armor.
For the actual calculation, add together all your boostable life sources, and calculate your life. Then add together all percentage boosts to form a single percentage, and apply it as a bonus to your boostable life. After that, add the non-boostable life.
This information would be best displayed by an equation:
Final life = Boostable_Life * (100% + Boost%)/100% + nonboostable_Life
Mana calculations follow the same equation and mechanics. |

Nope, +9 energy would only give you 18 mana on a sorc for example.
On the other hand, a perfect sapphire with 2x sojs, frosties, and lvl 18 BO (80%) would give you 102 mana!
The only time when something like a Jah rune (5%max life), which isn't affected by bo, is better than a pruby (38life) is when you have a put a huge amount of points into vit along with 20life scs etc like a high level barb or a full life pally.
For a barb:
With buffed level 54 BO (194%), a pruby would give you 111life.
With 400pts in Vitality, 37x 20life scs, 115life from angelics 2rings&ammy, +180life@lvl 90, 25pts in Vitality (starting attributes): you get a total of 2735 boostable life.
If you use a Jah Rune in your Arreat's Face lets say, the Jah would give you 136life which is better than a pruby.

*necrobump*
To point out, your starting vit doesn't necessarily give a corresponding hp bonus. A level 1 barb has 25 vit, but only 55 hp... so @ level 90 with 400 invested (425 base) you'd have 2688 boostable life (note that the +life/level is 2*(lvl-1) as it's for each level up).
