It's been awhile since I've done thermodynamics (which is physics, not chemistry, ra9e) but is it ~ 580 cal? Could be wrong, been doing work all day and will continue to do so for the next 20 hours or so.

Physics is awsome , electricity, heat, movment design 1500^2 ft house that has low heating bills and does not cost much to construct

Whats the potential kenetic energy of a 3cmx5"x1cm object standing on its 3cm side ( with the 1cm side parralel to the edge) on a platorform 5 meters tall. That has a mass of 12g/m^2.

I would if it was possible to answer.
1. I've never heard of "potential kinetic", only one or the other. However, based on the problem statement, I'm sure you meant "potential".
2. In BG units, mass is in g (or kg, etc.), not g/m^2. I think you meant to say "density". However, the units of density in BG are mass/volume, not mass/area.
If you're going to pose questions, please make sure that they make sense AND you post an answer for them afterwards -- I'm still waiting on the answer for the thermo problem.

eh, sorry no internet at home. and thanks for a bit o termonolgy correction yea, it was density and you have to convert it into g/cm^2 ill post the answer next monday., sorry for bad termonolgy/grammar, had physics last year lol. and my notes are hard to read (i have bad hand writing) but to answer the calorie question, yes, its around the 550-600 area.

You must have glossed over my post. Not only was it a terminology issue, it was also a correction of units. Density is not measured in mass/area, as you seem to be convinced. Please don't tell me that I "have to convert it to g/cm^2" because not only can density not be converted to what you suggested, I can convert it to whatever I want, provided the units are consistent (the units you choose are not).
Aside from all this (I glanced over this before), the dimensions you provide for this rectangular object are in cm as well as in inches. No problem statement nor any situation encountered in real life will give measurements in both BG and SI units.
Another point -- You say this object is resting on its 3cm side. I hate to break it to you, but this object doesn't have a 3cm side; it has a 3cm edge.
In its current jumbled state, this problem cannot be answered, in any way, shape, or form.
