If i play non expansion can i get different (better or rarer) rares than i can in expansion..?

items wont spawn as ETH in classic.

so in a word. no.

Classic cannot spawn Elite quality items, therefore more Exceptional quality and Normal Quality Items will drop.

Also, Classic cannot spawn Exceptional Uniques and Sets (None exist), therefore any item that would have dropped as a Unique of Set will roll down to a Rare.

Classic Items cannot spawn with certain affixes, which are LOD-Only. Certain examples include + Skill Tabs, Mechanic's Prefix, and the Ethereal tag.

So in other words, It depends entirely on what you're looking for.
