I would love to upgrade certain set items, I think that in the next patch they should allow you to upgrade set items... maybe with a new cube recipe that is a bit more costly?

the game is already pretty unbalanced, what with the addition of the new "fortitude runeword"(300 ed on an armor....). some of the other ladder runewords are highly overpowered too... and then...theres dupes all over that make the game more and more unbalanced...

I'm still not thinking of anything that it is going to make a huge difference on. Any set item with big damage and/or defense is Elite already. I don't see there being a huge dominating set because of it.

I'm pretty sure that most set items are not elite already.

Aldur's mace is probably the best candidate for upgrading, considering the set adds tons of ED which would be helped by a more powerful base weapon.

The ability to upgrade set items won't affect the game much at all. Sets are down on the list of most used items, save for higher level sets which are elite already (Tals, Trangs, Aldurs...) It dosn't matter if you allow sets to be upgradeable/Etheral, most won't even come close to rune words.

Agreed. In general, I don't think it would matter much. But, think of the people trying to collect entire etheral sets! And think of the people wasting Zod runes in IK Mauls! >.<

They can't do that lol, because when they reset ladder, all the *updated* chars crossing to the *unupdated* chars would throw shit so off, and would be insanley hard to do. Every thing would probly just crash O.o

I'm pretty sure Blizzard is done with Diablo II. They will probably reset ladders, but I do not see future patches being likely.
