Since the forum folk are so eager to pwn the tar out of me on West, let's make a thread to plan it out.

First step is to choose the realm. Which is more active? Ladder or Non-Ladder? I'm also including pubbies in this, because I'll need to practice on them before I take on the big dogs. I see the WNL Arena is very busy; is that true for WNL in general?

Second is to plan the dueler. I'd like a Ranged/Open character, because I've always found Melee sort of boring. There are three ranged characters I know I dislike: WC Barbs, Hdins and Chargers. (I know the last two are powerful, but they're also annoying to play, imo.) So here are several characters I might like to try:

GA Zon
Bone Necro (some of my old Necro's gear may even be floating around here, in wfg-dude's hand's)
WW Barb (Although they always sucked when I used to crush them on my Necro)
Some sort of ES Sorc (because I never play Sorcs)

I'm most experienced with the Bone Necro, and I know both they and GA Zons don't need Hell rushes to be good. I've never tried the other two in any real capacity.

So, my friendly Westies - let's work it out. Let me know if you think Ladder or NL is better, and if you have gear you wouldn't mind lending to me that would work for any of the above builds (or if you have an interesting build suggestion). I'm not expecting 1337 gear (I don't care if it's not max, or if the charms are plain 10-14 lifers); I just want a character that is fun to play, and can step into the ring with at least a vague chance of winning.

Assuming you're West NL. As for HLDs for rushing and what not, I have an account I can lend you pw if you need to rush or mf or stuff. Not really any competent characters, but the hammer can sorta rush hell.

Actually Weaj, you really hooked me up. You got my Charger mostly ready in like... three days, which was awesome. The only problem was that I hated him (no one's fault but my own), and I never found a weapon for him to use (so he's essentially useless as a dueler anyway). So that puts me back at square one. I can't make any build that requires SoJs, which pretty much eliminates the majority of level 30 builds, and I have nothing to really offer anyone in exchange for a hell rush. And a lot of the remaining builds are basically beyond my reach, because I don't want to spend 100 hours mf'ing just to try to find ONE helm that MIGHT kinda work for ONE build. (Like a +Fissure pelt.) So,

I don't have enough gear for anything but basic builds
I don't have enough "friends" online to get easy access to hell rushes
I don't have enough "currency" to trade for the really good items that define a quality dueler
I don't want to spend months trying to outfit a dueler

I have three LLDs pretty much stagnating because I can't get them rushed, and I'm missing critical gear for each of them (bow/rings for 'Zon, weapon/shield for Pally, SoJs/head for Necro). I guess I could just ask some pub to rush me for my forge, but I've never really known most people to be reliable on b.net. And that still doesn't solve my gear problem.

I started playing again over a month ago, and I've PvP'd exactly once. My one dueler (that Charger) is totally unfit to fight even random idiots in pub games, and I have yet to find a 4os Rune Staff to use for him. (And let's not forget that I will probably roll a shitty Insight my first time, and I only have enough runes for two tries.) I came back to D2 because I wanted to duel, and I'm not dueling. I'm spending all my time mf'ing, which was exactly the thing that made me quit D2 in the first place.

So if people are telling me they can help me get a completely equipped (all gear necessary + charms), rushed character, then I'm going there.
