Computer Problems |
|
I've been having computer problems lately. I have a 4 year old Compaq pc, and it has been making funny noises.. clicking i guess.. (harddrive?)
I've left it on 24/7 since the day i got it... which i know isnt good, so it's prolly going to die soon.. Is there anything i can do to prolong it's life... or if i do have to go and buy a new comp, what type should i go with? I would basically be using it for gaming, research, and school stuff... which i can do on almost anything, but i want good preformance while gaming.
I've also heard bad things about windows vista... can anyone elaborate on what effects vista has on gaming?

Basically, just wait till it dies, and then custom build your own computer so you can have it exactly the way you want it. Or I recommend a Dell (Cheap with good performance).

Vista has compatibility issues with blizzard games, or games other games from certain time periods. After you install d2 it tells u there are known compatibility issues. It has to wait until after you installed it of course to tell you, on account of Vista is out to destroy the world

What sort of clicking? If its a really crunchy sort of bad sounding clicking then yes, the hard drive might not be long for this world. All hard drives click a bit, some more than others.
Make sure you back up anything you need!!! Number 1 priority!
It could also be a fan thats making the noise, unlikely though.
If you want a new pc though, i would recommend building your own. It really isnt that hard, i built my first one about 4 weeks ago and it went fine first time[full Oblivion settings at 1920*1200 ]. Most of the time its cheaper and you know what goes into it. Plus it gives you more comfidence and knowledge to fix/upgrade it if needs be.
From what ive seen/heard about vista it runs/looks very nice but yes, it has some compatibility ussues including diablo. If you want to play d2 on it its a gamble to see if it get6s fixed or if there is a way to do it.

Vista does have its issues and some of my friends say that its complicated to use i havent tried it yet so i dont know but i think that you should make your own computer. You can find kick ass deals on some parts and shit.
