Ok I tried using the affix calc but I'm sooo confused, I want to know what the best level char to use would be to shop for a Holy Grim Shield of Deflection and from which difficulty level. Thanks.

a sweet spot wont matter for exceptionals. just use a 99

he was shopping for a necro wand ben, not a shield.  its a different scenario for every item.

the factor in this case is its an exceptional item
your odds for the item spawning Grim at shops at that minimum ilvl (wich was ilvl 60) is bad (5-6%)
ofcourse shoppping with the lvl 99 means u can get all sorta of high level mods that lowers your chances...... but its usually a drop of 50% in your odds.. while the clvl 99 character sees a huge 400-700% increase in the chance for the Grim.
so the gain in item Exceptional upgrade odds significantly outwieghts the loss of mod odds.
