I never understood the point of this game, or how to win Confused . Up until now I didnt think anyone played it, lol.

the glitch is that the corner mine that he clicked on was not guraded by any numbers, if you look at the numbers surrounding his "flagged" mines, all the numbers have their mines filled up. kinda funny ^^

That's not actually a glitch at all. The top right corner looked like this:

X = Mine
O = Empty

O X X
O X X
O O O

EMP correctly identified three of the mines. However, since there are no empty spaces next to the mine in the top right corner, EMP had no way of determining whether or not there was a mine there. He took a guess, and it was a mine instead of a 3.

The only possibly solution would have been to assume that there was a mine in the corner and complete the rest of the puzzle as planned. If his guess was right, the puzzle would stop after he finished the rest of the board. If not, he would have used up all his flags on the remaining mines, and so he would be able to deduce that the top right corner was not a mine.

Exactly. In the same situation, I probably would have assumed that it was a blank spot as well.

No it isn't. My best documented time is 9 seconds for beginner, but I know others who have done it quicker, and I could have sworn that I've done it quicker (8 seconds I think?) and just never wrote it down.

Do you know the basic premise of the game?

The numbers tell you how many mines are adjacent to the numbers.

So basically, take this lil pic for example:

xxx
x2x
xxx


Any of the x's are adjacent to the number, so two of them HAVE to be a bomb.

Now look at this pic:

xyx
x2x
yxx

If x = no mine, and y = mine, then:

#y#
#2#
y##

Where # = another number, and NOT a bomb. The y's will need to be marked as bombs. The #'s can be clicked without trepidation.

Use this basic model as your guide and you should be able to pick up the game.

Does this make sense?

I started reading the Help thingy, and I get the basics, but I cant see doing it in 9 secs Crying or Very sad , I was just happy to beat it, now I'm doing Intermediate level, I beat begginer in 99 secs though, I get real close on intermediate, but I will make a stupid mistake and ruin it all.

Minesweeper is ridiculously fun. I make it a "goal" to beat expert once every day. My current record is 132, which is pretty good considering its on a laptop, I think. Does anyone else feel smart when they play it, or is it just me?

WoooT I just beat intermediate, with 736 secs Very Happy , Dad needed comp so I was afk for the majority.

Chewie you should feel smart when you beat it, its a brain game, and it isnt the easy thing doing. I felt like the smartest person in the world when I beat begginer, then knarl came along Evil or Very Mad
