#3 - Ladder is reseting
#2 - Techys are on vacation. They are so vigilant that any second that they are away from the office causes a meltdown.
And my number 1 favorite rumor:
- Blizz is running rust storm in east

I think that's probably more believable then any of the others so far. Take a look at the open tech forums on battle.net.

With a company that makes and sells games for internet play, I can't imagine they'd send the WHOLE tech support team on vacation without having some sort of back-up plan. As a network geek myself, I'll be the first to say that there are TONS of bells, alarms, whistles, bombs, gunshots, etc, etc that go off whenever you have a network catastrophe such as this.
With that being said, if this really were an issue such as that, then we would finally know what blizz REALLY thinks about we d2 players. I, for one, am hoping like hell that they're all back to work furiously working on this problem.
As someone stated earlier (I forget who it was): Blizzard charges 40 bucks for a game that's archaic as hell. Just about all of us bought that game for the purpose of playing it over the internet (for free). That's a huge selling point for a game. If a company is gonna sell a game and market it based on that feature, then they should be able to provide support for it and keep its servers up-and-running.

I'm making an effort to avoid it. 
I go right into "shade afk" or "op lldpk" and click the join/create button. What's more annoying is the "OMG IS BNET UP YET?!?!?!" spam. I mean...for chrissakes. CLICK THE FRIGGIN JOIN BUTTON AND FIND OUT!!!

I think it's just cuz they realized how shitty East ppl were and are trying to make them join West so they can become civilized and much better duelers

I like the idea of Diablo escaping into the real world - Hey! It could happen!!
Whatever is going on, I have this suspicion that it has something to do with mouse getting mh up and running again. If you remember, as soon as mouse released mh after patch 1.11, blizz immediately released patch .11b which got rid of mh.
And now, after months of work, mouse got mh working running, and within a couple weeks blizz is up to something again. Could be a patch or some change/maintenance to get rid of mh again.
Cuz lets face it, blizz hates mh worse than anything. You can get lags, "game full" glitches and booted off line all day long and they won't do anything - but get a mh that works - and its time to call the excorcist

Psh, you people on east should be playing Asia 2 Realm right now. You could get on the ladder in Hardcore Classic Ladder.
I like the ruststorm idea brought up though. People are going nuts.
