ENLISTED! i just got home from going through MEPS. I scored a 97 on my asvaab and am enlisted in the Naval Nuclear Program. Damn it feels good to be intelligent. In two years I will be qualified to operate a nuclear reactor...how many other people do you know that can say that?

AWSOME !!! Thank you for your future service to our nation. I for one am "proud" to know someone who is called to duty by oneself..
I'm not sure now..but the attrition rate used to be kinda high for where you are headed..so keep your nose in those books..advancement will be fast after your training and wherever you take liberty you will see jealousy written all over the other swabs faces when they see your rate. I and my family will feel more secure and will sleep better at night knowing good people like you are at the helm..ANCHORS AWAY !!
o_btw:
ISO.. change him to..SwabFryar?

I don't have much to add, but I want to commend you guys who have served.

and also, on a side note, one of my second cousins just did or is about to join the navy. the thing is, he's never been on a boat Smile I found it sort of amusing

yeh, i put on e-3 may 16.. but most people do choose the 6 year.. i choose to leave my options open.. both branches make e-4 fairly quick, both of wich makes about 30-40k a year, while doing the same job outside could start out at 80k+.. why be locked down for 2 extra years when you are capable of the job after 4... thats just my reasoning... also you're allowed to crosstrain sooner on the 4 year deal... jus in case you hate your job... just make sure you dont get washed back in basic or technical training... they'll shaft you hard if you do.. other than that. sounds fun.. stay in shape, and start learning the ranking system, customs and courtesies, core values etc... if your on point with yur shit.. basic will be much easier..
