i go for the most -res you can get, because 75% light res will always hurt whatever dmg you have. and yes, people could just use a ptopaz shield, but that would just mean their character is flawed, because it cannot take your foh'er with its everyday gear.

if nobody was to ever switch gear ever, in hld at least, trapper or foher would win 90% of all duels. putting on some max res or some absorb is absolutely fine, to even it out so that you don't die in 1-2 hits from the more overpowered builds.

that is high level dueling though, where damage is more often than not, higher than your life. we;re talking about LLDing here, where damage is often not much higher, or equal to your life.
in my opinion, if you think resistances are a weakness in your build, incorperate them. get life charms with resistance, get gear with resistance, and use them all the time.
anyone can put on a shield with 3-4 ptopaz. doesnt take any planning out to do that.
