Agree with Meegz
You also have more mature players, unlike some i can see in this channel. More people are willing to help you out instead of flaming + calling noob/quit for a response.

You can pay 100 dollars that will last a day to go to the Amusement Park or you can pay 100 dollars for gear @ ebay and it'll last you until you chose to leave it. |
You're not that bright are you? Paying 15$ a month is nothing at all like ebaying. The 15$ a month is not really even that much, It's the only way to keep the servers clean. Its not like they are going to make enough cash from just the selling of the game/expansions to keep the servers running and keep the people to keep working on them. Your only fight against pay to play is irrelevant. Picking each item you want and paying cash for it is not anything like paying people to keep the servers clean for you.

I really wanna see how ebaying items and paying to play EQ or WoW or FFII are related. Because I get to pick what I want with eBay, I still have to get lucky or work my ass off to get what I want on any of the afore mentioned games. But, I get to do so in a hack free, harassment free (serious harassment, not just b.s. in game that everyone does), mostly lag free environment.
If they did that to D2, you can bet your ass I would be $15 poorer each month.

the only similarity really is that you're putting money into a game you've already paid for. and thats something im not willing to do

well as i see it, its more like gas and repairs for your car.
the service fee is worth it to me, bc the alternative is crappy bandwidth and cheats etc...
it really is just the way things had to go in the future of ever demanding scope in video games, much like using the population to "beta" test.
and subsequent release patchs.

a game costs $50, a car costs a few grand. the cost of repairs rarely equals the cost of a car. because when that happens, you replace the car

the 15 bucks a month really is worth it. the experience is so much better.
Things get fixed, very little lag, no spammers, and you dont deal with the occasional 13 year old thinking its hilarious spamming N*gger and F*g over the general.
i guess coming from a d1 background, that stuff hasn't really bothered me in years, but after finally getting to play a game where its removed is like a whole new experience.
i lost interest in wow after a year or so, but it was easily worth every penny. i mean how many games out there even come close to the sheer amount of content wow has ?
