Subject description: The Children of Huron

I want to get it, but I've heard mixed reviews about it, and I'm already in the middle of another book that I want to finish, as well as finishing out my last semester of college.

So has anyone here read it at all? Or is anyone currently reading it?

Yeah, when I heard there was a new Tolkien book, I was like..."wait, he is dead, right???"

I guess his son has spent quite some time putting this story together. I think CNN news said it took around 30 years to compile completely.

They did, it was animated, and sadly I have yet to be able to find it on dvd ><

They also made a Fellowship of the Ring animated version too. Yet again, haven't been able to find it on dvd...

if it's anything like The Silmarillion, it wil be comparable to reading the book of Genesis combined with War and Peace

Hopefully it's more of a tale than a history/genealogy.

there's animated movies for all of the LOTR books and the hobbit

shortly after LOTR:fotr came out in theaters, they played all 4 of the animated movies on tv iirc

Well there was a hobbit and all three of them combined into one. I had the trilogy one. I found it in a $5.50 bin at wal-mart.

And it's god friggin' awful. Ralph Bakshi directed, and he must have been freebasing airplane glue and licking toads the entire time. The elves of Mirkwood (where Legolas comes from) are blue in the cartoon. Blue. Like giant, pointy-eared Smurfs. It's hilariously bad. The animation is truly in the style of the awesomely cheap 70s-80s kids cartoons.

VOUCHE!

That sh*t is on crack! I'm pretty sure there was some mescaline in there too though...I mean damn...

Although it was hilariously bad, I did enjoy it as a kid, quite a bit in fact. Although the dragon in the Hobbit scared the bejeezus out of me, haha. I like super-cheap 70/80's cartoons. Voltron...Thundercats...GI-Joe....Transformers...Love em all Smile

Oh, absolutely. I actually went back as an adult and bought The Hobbit again. Watched it, was vaguely sad for my lost childhood (it's easy to like this movie when you're too young to know better).
