PostPosted: Mon Oct 11, 2004 12:40 pm    Post subject:  Suggestions on my MLD Zon

First off, I'd like to say I'm new to 1.1, so there is going to be tons of questions Shocked

I'm in the process of making a level 50 MLD Java/Bow zon. Mostly Java.

Here is my planned gear:

Helm: 25%DR Gaze
Weapon: Eth Titans
Shileld: Moser's
Weapon switch: Lycander's Aim
Armor: Shaft
Ammy: Cat's eye
Ring: Raven
Ring: Raven
Belt: 15% DR string
Gloves: +2 Java skills, 20 Ias, 3% duel leech, and some resist mods
Boots: War Travs

Questions:

1. Does Leech still work in duels?
2. Whats the Cap for DR in duels?
3. Whould Travs or Waterwalks be better?
4. Should I go with Dex or Vit?

Skills:

Jav: Not sure if I want CS or Jab

Bow: Not sure if I want GA or strafe

Passive: Not sure about penetrate, Valk, and Inner sight.
(Any comments about gear, skills, strategies would be greatly appreciated.)

hmm i think cap on dr in duels is 30 or lower cant remember but having gaze + shaft isnt a good idea either one or other unless u cant find any better armor or helm

EDIT:ALTHOUGH YOU DONT HAVE TO LISTEN TO MEH

Why gores?

Travs add tons of damage from the + 15-25
Also +10 to vit would help out.

Another thing, If the cap is 50, what do you think about switching the string for razor tail? +15 dex, +10 Max

hybrid zons aren't as effective in 1.1 as they were in .9

bowzons are no longer the best duelers, and leech no longer works... so strategy with them is much different now in 1.1

to make a good high lvl bowzon you need to be very rich... you need all 15/40 gear and many 3/20/20s or 3/5/20s
I would not suggest making a mld bowzon...

If you want to make a javzon with 1 in guided it would be ok...
Most javzons use charged strike, which gets a lot of damage but can be easily absorbed by other mid and high lvl chars

I would suggest making a psn zon... you can use trangs at lvl 45 so you get the 25% psn bonus
damage could easily be past 60k
poison only requires you to max two skills, and then you could put one in guided or fury to do damage while the psn hurts them

you can get lots of dodge/avoid/evade with the extra points after maxing the 2 psn skills

poison cant be absorbed, and 60k damage isnt easily reduced by - psn time gear... the only way you could really stop that damage is by using antidotes, but most people don't think to use them

How's the Attack speed with the Psn attack?

In .09, Jab was godly.... Is it still as good as it used to be? Or if a Jabber went up against a Psn or CS zon, whould the Jabber ever come out on top?

A jabbe rwould not beat a CS zon without absorbing, although you CAN have an effective melee jabber for high level duel, i doubt mid lvl duel.. it's extremely expensive and need's all 40-15ias/life gear with eth/replenish 400%+ed 40ias matri javsm and 40 320. if you can get some crushing blow from gores in there its awesome. anyways, if you use jab, gores are better than travs. if you use CS, which is better for mid lvl duel, don't use either. CS can be absorbed at such a low level though, by just tgods basically. Poison amazon is pretty good like HFCX said, but as far as I'm concerned, when it comes to mid level dueling, an amazon isn't the way to go anyways. If you have your heart set on amazon, I would use charged strike, it will beat most everything that doesn't use absorb and get some nice damage. but if they decide to absorb it you're in trouble.

Poison zons are no fun to duel. When I find one, I just go get a caster since they never stand and fight. Why duel them with a melee character when they don't fight by melee rules, you know? Just overall, I find poison zons as annoying as trappers. Jabbers have worked in the past for MLD, but don't expect wins over zealots or concers. The few I see do extremely well except for those two classes. Bowazons? I laugh at them in MLD. No good bows+no leech+no pierce makes it easy to just press the r key to switch to walk when they shoot and run while they don't. Just my two cents though.

I think poison zons are fun to duel with, it's one of the ranged characters that is actually challenging to use, and a well built poison zon can tank ww barbs or zealers if they don't use life tap, but running and shoot vs a life tap zealer i have no shame in. poison zon at high level can be an effective strong dueler. it isn't melee technically, but it can tank melees, and beat most ranged, but it takes practice and a good build. for mid lvl dueler, not verystrong i bet, because it wont be able to tank, or do enough dmg to beat the casters before they beat you, especially with no enigma teleport-
