Fury Druid Item Questions |
|
I have a 30 fury druid right now, and a few items are interchangable and I dont really know whats best. I've done some "testing" but it's really too close to call:
Armor: +45max artisans gothic plate of the squid/peace mageplate
Gloves: Bloodfists/Ik Gloves
Belt: String/IK belt
Boots: Sanders/Goblin Toe
I can pretty much fool around with any combination of armor/boots/belt/gloves...just wondering what you guys think is best, and if I settle on something, I maybe will remake. Here's the basic pros/cons of each item:
45max gothic of squid: about 500 more life after transformation and oak; higher listed dmg
Peace mageplate: much lower life/dmg but +3 critical (how much % does that add?), 20% fhr, and ctc valk. Hehe.
Bloodfists: life and FHR
IK gloves: more dmg/ar (since the +str/+dex is on top of what I need for gear)
IK belt: more dmg/res
string: dr
sanders: AR
goblin toes: cb, but less AR and FRW

Sander's is good vs lower life opponents or against runners, for obvious reasons. I'd use Goblin Toes against characters with 1800+ life (that's a rough estimate - you can choose for yourself how much life your opponent should have to switch 15 stats/100 AR for 25% CB), however, since the CB really comes into play against characters with much higher life.
Your armor choice depends on how much damage you get from your charms and other jewels. If you have 90-120 max damage from charms and another 120+ damage from jewels on top of your weapon, I'd use Peace (provided you have a +2 SS/nice mods ammy and dual sojs), but otherwise just stick with a high max/life armor.
I'm not entirely sure about the gloves/belt choice. I believe the top druids on USEast all use string/bloodfist, but I'm not even sure that'd be the best choice. Maybe breakbeatz, meitou, or some other Fury druid expert can offer some advice on this.

+2 crit is 25% chance so +3 is probably around 28 or 29%

Guide I wrote:
Fury druids are the most versatile melee characters at level 30. They hold their own against barbs and paladins, and they are much better against casters than either of the two. While a barb or paladin's high defense is worthless in a duel vs a caster, a druid is just as effective since he will have low defense. He will also use a range 5 weapon which makes casters much easier to hit, and can run faster by charging up Feral Rage. However, a fury druid is a very expensive character to make, and it is not recommended for those who are not willing to spend a lot on an LLD. It's fairly cheap to make a mediocre zealot or conc barb with an honor and rhyme, but a druid's damage is all coming from his charms and jewels, which are very expensive.
Gear:
Helm:
+2 shapeshift, +3 fury 2os helm, with suffix if possible - VERY hard to find
+3 fury 3os helm, with +HoW if possible - Use this if you can't find the helm listed above.
Fill sockets with 24 max jewels
Armor:
Peace runeword - I consider this armor to be overpowered and I don't use it. However it is the best choice in duels where you will be wearing SoJs.
Artisans light armor of the squid (80 life is perfect). This armor will be better in duels vs high def barbs and paladins, where you will wear angelics instead of SoJs
Fill sockets with 24 max jewels
Shield:
Artisans tower Shield of deflecting - 3x 24max: 6 frame blocking
Artisans Tower Shield of Deflecting - 2x 24max 1x shael: 5 frame blocking
Artisans Tower Shield of Deflecting - 3x shael: 4 frame blocking (I've never tested this but some people say it's helpful although it doesn't seem worth it to me)
Artisan's Tower Shield of Deflecting - 15max 15res all jewels: 6 frame blocking (I never got around to making this but it seems like it would be helpful to have)
Rings:
SoJs vs. all low defense characters
Angelics vs. high defense barbs and paladins
Bitter hold - use this when you want to wear Goblin Toe boots.
Amulet:
+2 shapehift/life amulet (80 is perfect)
+2 shapeshift/life/resist amulet (higher cold resist is very important due to cold mastery)
Angelics vs. high defense barbs and paladins
Nokazoan vs. fire sorcs or fire trappers
Boots:
Sanders
Goblin toe vs. low def melee
Belt:
String of Ears (15dr/15mr is perfect)
Deaths Sash when you need CBF
Gloves:
Bloodfists - feel free to upgrade once if you're a perfectionist
Weapon:
6 x Shael superior Naga - 6/4 frame attack, range 3
4 x Shael 2 x 20ED/-req jewels superior Grim Scythe - 6/4 frame attack, range 5.
Charms
37 x Fine small charms of substenance (3/20/15 is perfect)
1 x Fine grand charm of balance (10/76/fhr is perfect) - this hits the 4 frame fhr bp exactly
10 x 3/20/5frws in stash to use vs. casters. I would keep more but I don't have room.
Skills:
20 Lycanthropy
5 Werewolf
1 Oak Sage
12 Heart of Wolverine
1 Feral Rage
1 Rabies
1 Fury
Stats:
Str - enough for gear (121)
Dex - enough for gear (98)
Vitality - everything else (won't be much left)
Energy - none
My druids final stats with most common setup:
Damage: 2226 max
Life: 2502
Attack rating: 6700 with sojs, 10600 with angelics
4 frame attack
4 frame fhr

Great guide break, thinking of making 1 myself now.
All i need to gather together is a small pile of 24 maxers...

Yes, hell rushed.
All 24 maxers, 11x 3/20/15s, the rest very close to it. 80life 3os mage plate, 2/80life ammy.
The only thing I need is the +5 fury helm, besides that my stats are just about perfect for this build.

He beats zealots but I have never seen a zealot with gear as good mine. The godly barbs on East beat me with conc though.

any barb that someone put more than 10 minutes into will beat a fury druid unless its equipped like break's or meitous. i was gettin break's to half life on my super-crappy barb doin just over 1100 dmg with concentrate. you have to have 20+max damage jewels and fine/sustenance charms to make this build even worth considering.
and i would LOVE to be able to get a hold of similar gear to build a zealot to go against that druid, break. that seems like it would be an insane matchup. ill let ya know if that ever happens, lol...

Question for breakbeatz:
First, thanks on the heads up on gear vs. barbs/other char...I just had an arena duel, and your "vs. barb" setup did 100x better than the other one.
I've almost made up my mind of what I'm gonna do on my remake. I'm just trying now to decide between IK gloves or bloodfists. With bloodfists, I get 40life/5min/4 frame FHR...with IK gloves, I get 62 life/some extra max dmg (not sure how much)/5 frame FHR...just wondering what you think is better, and why.

Bloodfists seem much better to me although I've never tested IK gauntlets. Fhr is pretty important as Fury is an interruptable attack.
