I found a sword today:
Cruel Thirst
Long Sword
5 - 50 Damage
20 IAS
93% ED
+14 Max Damage
1-4 Cold Damage
2 OS
LvL Req : 24
I was wondering if it has any use, what lvl would it be if I upped it, and what would it's upped damage be?

about 20-95 dmg
and the req would be 30..
if u put in sheal(s) it will be 34

Why would sheals make it 34?

in this case there is a magical mod that makes this kite 30... wich means even if it had been a dragon shield, it would still have been 30.
but when u upgrade normal=>excep a +5 is added.. so the 30 becomes 35
if u then put a jewel into this with a lvl 32 req... the 32 is used and get the +5 wich will make it 37...
remeber it doesnt matter WHEN u jewel it. before or after upgradng.. the game is constantly checking for the highest req |

lld101 has been through this in 1.10
unless 1.11 saw a change (i seriously doubt) as i said, the game continously tracks for the highest req.
putting a sheal in after will make no diff, the game checks to see the sheal 29 as the highest req and adds its +5 to make 34
if you can find an upped shealed 30 item on bnet please show us asap

19-95 Dmg once upgraded to rune sword and it will be lvl 29 req.

An easier way to think of it is that after you "upgrade" with the cube recipe, the game adds an invisible affix of "lvl req + xx(5 or 7 or 12)".

I didn't even know you could up rare items
I always thought it was 'Uniques' only.

there is RARE upping recipes
heres the one for upping this to a runesword
1 Ort Rune + 1 Amn Rune + 1 Perfect Sapphire + Normal (Basic) Rare Weapon = Exceptional Rare Weapon
rune swords are 25
25+5 = 30
(not sure why that calc tells you 29) its 30 trust me

Ya I wasn't thinking when I put 29. I thought that if you upped rares, they got +7 lvl req or am I just thinking of exceptional to elite items?
