I think a well equipped merc will last long enough to kill after shout and BO.

no point in having 3k gold if u need 15minuts to kill. no point in doing it in 5 or 8 player game if it takes u 10minuts, instead of 5minuts in a single game.

really, baba solo is my best bet. been using mine for some years and works greath. i almost dont see a difference in total gold/ run compared to 4+player games. and the small difference is not worth the extra time.
dual botd cb for the killing, lem'ed alibabas for mf and gf to hork. plain s, simple, and good mf %.

Does the amount of players in the game have an effect on the amount of gold dropped?

when i used to gold find, i noticed that more magics drop when more people are in the game
i used a blizz sorc for my runs
i just stood behind the trav barrier... thing and never got hit
(other than maybe a few ghouls or hydras)
i used the following:
6lem crystal
rhyme bone shield
lem'd 50 tarn
74%gf resist ammy
wealth mage
p goldwrap
p infernostride
chancies
2x 15mdr (i forget the name) 100 gf rings

i just blizz'd them from behind the barrier and used kinesis to grab the gold... took about 20 seconds on an average run but i liked picking up the magics so about a minute or two
theres always 1 or 2 immunes tho, so id tele on them when everything else is dead and hed add a little bit more gf
he used some decent stuff
eth cryptic doom
100% gf crown of thieves
wealth archon

thats 400% extra from merc kills
and my sorc had 2k gold find already
cant say its the best gold finder but its the only way i would do it
my record gold rake-in was 488k but id usually get 200-300k-ish each run

I invested kinda high in gold find, and oh what fun it is!.
Pally lvl 90, hammerdin

40%gf +1 combat gc x4
36% gf +1 combat gc x2
35%gf combat x1
160% gheed x1
1x 19/20/7 anni
7x 10%gf sc

wealth armor,
um zak shield,
13%resit all 30%gf jeweled into 100% CoT
110% rare Gf belt +12 str belt
114%gf 13dex+ 13+ str boots
6x lem sword
+2 combat +71gf% crafted ammy
2x dwarfs,
chancies,

somewhere around 2k gf+

and hes also like a normal cookie cutter hammer din as well so i can rush my friends and such.
